Bunyip Jewellery Making Classes

Cat Frampton has been Bunyip's jewellery teacher for 7 years and has been working in the shop, almost, since it opened.

Getting Started Making Jewellery: Full day

Learn how to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings using a wide range of techniques and materials.  The day will start with learning how to make loops using wire. This is a very useful skill that means you can then make earrings, pendants, charms and any other type of dangle with almost any bead.  From there you will learn about the different threads and findings (all the bits we use to make jewellery) and how and when each one is used with different styles of jewellery.  In the afternoon you will have plenty of time to make your own pieces, from the beads on hand, using the skills you have just learnt.  You will be able to ask questions and have time to make, while under the guiding hand of your teacher. This class will give you all the skills you need to make all types of jewellery and you will go away with a selection of reference threads with their findings.

Ability: all

Designing and Making Your Own Jewellery: Full Day

In this class we will look at the basics of Jewellery Design, including balance, length, colour and symmetry.  We look at which materials to choose for the style you want.  From these elements you can make beautiful and wearable pieces of jewellery to your own design.  Colour theory and the basics of symmetry are both simple but often overlooked parts of design upon which we concentrate, moving on to necklace lengths and the balancing of beads to make a lovely piece of jewellery. You will learn many jewellery making techniques and have plenty of time to make your own pieces.
